Spain’s national government has announced plans to assist the homeless in the face of the health and social emergency caused by COVID-19 working in collaboration with the Armed Forces.
They will daily deliver hygiene, food and drink kits to the homeless. In addition, they will explain the preventive measures against the coronavirus, take their temperature and guide them if necessary.
The Government’s plan also includes the provision to create large spaces to house, feed, control hygiene and care for homeless people equipped with social and health professionals, with the possibility of an isolation area for infected people.
In the event that the Social Services are overwhelmed by the overload of work in the various assistance centres cooperation with the Armed Forces will ensure that all social needs are met.
