The wind and rain storms sweeping across the Andalucian autonomous community since early Thursday has resulted in the 112 emergency telephone service managing a total of 983 incidents, mostly due to landslides, falling objects, road traffic incidents and flooding of homes and roads.
Between 6.00 and 12.00 on Friday, the 112 control centre has coordinated 526 incidents.
Most of the cases have been concentrated in the provinces of Sevilla, Córdoba and Jaén, as reported by the service attached to the Ministry of the Presidency, Public Administration and Interior of the Junta de Andalucía.
In the province of Sevilla, 181 calls have been attended in the capital and in other municipalities such as Alcalá de Guadaíra, Carmona, Fuentes de Andalucía, San Juan de Aznalfarache, Mairena del Alcor, Morón de la Frontera, Dos Hermanas, Pilas and Utrera.
In the Córdoba province, 147 cases related to the storm have been managed especially in the capital and the municipalities of Villa del Río, Almodóvar del Río, Hornachuelos, Santaella, Montoro or Bujalance, among others.
In Jaén, most of the 134 coordinated incidents from 6 am to 12 noon were due to the flooding of streets, homes, premises and basements in the capital and other towns in the province such as Andújar, Marmolejo, Villanueva de la Reina, Martos and Valdepeñas de Jaén, among others. In addition, the N-323A road passing through Campotéjar remains cut off to traffic due to weather conditions.
In Cádiz, the 21 notices managed since the early hours of this morning are all related to wind damage and have focused on Algeciras, Jerez de la Frontera, Setenil de las Bodegas and Medina Sidonia. In Algeciras, several sheets that make up the metal structure of the Virgen de la Esperanza school have come off requiring the attention of firefighters and Local Police.
In the rest of the Andalucian provinces, Friday’s day has been quieter in terms of the number of incidents. In Huelva it has had 16 notices managed, in Málaga 13, in Granada 11 and in Almería only three. In these provinces, the emergency coordinating centre has attended incidents for falling trees, branches, signs, Christmas lighting or street furniture, in addition to traffic incidents. In Granada, the overflow of a river on the GR-4405 road has caused the flooding of the road at the height of Montillana.
METEOROLOGICAL NOTICES
The State Meteorological Agency keeps the orange warning active for coastal phenomena along the Andalucian coast except on the Huelva coast, where the level is yellow.
The orange warning for rain also continues to be active.
