Our contributor Paul Whitelock has been writing ever since he moved to live in Spain full time in 2008.
After a spell as a journalist for The Olive Press, he went freelance and has had articles published in The Observer, SUR in English, and the Euro Weekly News, The Iberian Times, Insight magazine and North Wales Living, as well as being a regular columnist for several years for Olive Country Life magazine, published in Alcala La Real (Jaén).
He has written blogs for The Olive Press, Secret Andalucía (now defunct) and A1 Solutions.
He currently writes blogs for this website, Secret Serranía, and Eye on Spain, based in Murcia.
He has two books in preparation, based on his experiences of living in Montejaque and Ronda.
Paul’s writing has been mainly in English, although he does provide some articles in Spanish for Secret Serranía.
Now, for the first time, he has had an article in Spanish published in print media. Namely in the magazine El Hacho which comes out twice a year in Montejaque. The article is about his experience of Covid-19, so is very topical.
Paul told us: “I wanted to get the issues surrounding Covid-19 off my chest. I spoke to the editor of “El Hacho”, Juan de Castro, and he was delighted to get a guiri on board.”
He continued: “Seeing my article in print in a high-quality publication like El Hacho makes me feel very proud.”
If you would like to read Paul’s piece, “Una Historia de Covid-19” you can pick up a copy free of charge at the Town Hall in Montejaque.
There is also a version in English, which you can read here.
