Secret Serranía is to re-launch its series of quizzes, which, after the successful inaugural quiz in October, were all cancelled because of the latest Covid-19 restrictions on movement and opening hours. Since both of these have now been relaxed and after very careful consideration we feel that it is safe and reasonable to hold a quiz again if everyone sticks to the rules regarding the wearing of masks, social distancing and group size. Disinfectant gels will be available at the venues, as well as soaps in the toilets.
The first of this new round of quizzes will be the Secret Serranía Super CHRISTMAS QUIZ, to be held at the Hotel Palacete de Mañara in Montejaque on Monday 28 December at 2.00 pm.
Once again the quiz will be BI-LINGUAL, as it is aimed at local Spaniards as well as foreign English-speaking residents. All questions will be asked in Spanish and English and answers will be accepted in either language as appropriate.
As a result of constructive feedback following the inaugural quiz in October, a number of changes have been made:
- Firstly, we have chosen the afternoon as a more appropriate time of day in the present circumstances.
- The number of questions has been reduced to 8 rounds of 10.
- The questions will be more general and not exclusively about Spain and things Spanish.
- The prizes on this occasion will be cash prizes.
- You will be offered a complimentary aperitif on arrival (a beer, a glass of wine or a soft drink)
- There will also be a halftime complimentary snack. By popular request, this will not be “callos”!
- Mobile phones will be totally banned! Please leave them at home or switch them off during the quiz.
As the inaugural quiz made a loss, even though it was fully subscribed, the cost of the ticket has been raised to 10€ per person. We feel this is right, as it covers the cost of organising the quiz, the cash prizes, the complimentary aperitif and half-time snack, as well as providing an entertaining afternoon at a reasonable cost.
As before, the capacity is limited by law to 8 tables of up to 4 people, so you must reserve in advance. Contact Paul on 636 527 516 as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Last time all tables were booked, so we anticipate the same again.
During the afternoon the normal hotel menu will be available. This includes full meals, raciones, pizzas and Ana’s famous gourmet tapas.
