Spain’s AlertCops app now incorporates a new button that allows suers to report cases of animal abuse immediately to the National Police and Guardia Civil.
With the addition of this new function, AlertCops has a fast and effective option to notify the State Security Forces, from any mobile device, of these types of events – classified as a crime in articles 337 and 338 of the Penal Code – which sets different penalties for those who mistreat, cause injury, abandon, subject to sexual exploitation or cause unjustified death to domestic animals or any other.
To warn of this type of act the AlertCops user will have at his disposal the “animal abuse” icon. Users can choose whether they want to communicate the alert by voice call or through a chat message in which they can attach photos or videos of the reported event.
AlertCops is a free service provided through an app on mobile devices, which provides a direct communication channel with the State Security Forces to communicate a criminal act or risk situation of which one is a victim or witness such as assaults, robberies, cases of gender violence, illegal occupation of homes among others.
Whenever you want, you may share your location with whoever you want. In case of emergency, the rescue will be faster and more accurate.
AlertCops also includes an SOS button, a new functionality aimed at reinforcing the protection of two specific groups: victims of gender violence and healthcare personnel. This button allows these groups, in a risky situation, to send an urgent alert to the nearest police centre, along with their position, as well as a 10-second audio recording of what is happening. To do this, they only have to press this button repeatedly 5 times in less than 6 seconds. All this without accessing the app since this button will be accessible from the home screen of your mobile.
