Spain’s Ministry of Health has detected a massive campaign sending malicious emails that try to impersonate the identity of the Ministry of Health by duplicating the corporate image and mimicking email accounts, such as @ mscbs.gob.es. These emails contain information related to terms such as coronavirus, COVID-19, State of Alarm and others.
The department has said, “Keep in mind that the Ministry of Health does not send emails from the domain @ mscbs.gob.es, so all email addresses from that domain are false: [email protected], covid @ mscbs.gob.es, etc.
“These emails must be eliminated and avoid downloading the attached files or following the links they may contain.
“As general precautionary measures it is recommended:
• Do not open emails from unknown users or those who have not requested, delete them directly.
• Do not reply to these emails.
• Exercise caution when following links in emails even from known contacts.
• Be careful when downloading email attachments even if they are from known contacts.
“Finally, it should be noted that emails sent from the Ministry of Health can be verified by the recipient email servers, so that most citizens will not have received emails that impersonate the identity of the Ministry of Health.”
