Malaga-Costa del Sol airport’s Terminal 3 will reopen from tomorrow (Saturday) and by early next week is due to handle more than 100 flights a day.
As Spain closed its borders to control the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus the fourth-busiest airport in the country, that normally handles almost 20 million passengers a year, locked down with a minimum staff to handle the occasional repatriation or private flights and cargo. All bars and shops were closed.
With the reopening of T3 some of the bars will also open.
Upon arrival at Malaga airport, all passengers on flights from outside Spain, will have to pass through a temperature control point and must complete a Public Health Passenger Locator Card questionnaire when appropriate.
Malaga Airport (AGP) is the busiest international airport in Andalucía, accounting for 85 per cent of the region’s non-domestic traffic. It offers a wide variety of international destinations. Before the COVID-19 crisis the airport, on the Costa del Sol, had a daily link with twenty cities in Spain and over one hundred cities in Europe. Direct flights also operated to Africa, the Middle East and also to North America in the summer season. Airlines with a base at the airport include Air Europa, Norwegian, Scandinavian Airlines, Ryanair and Vueling.
