The Junta de Andalucia’s Ministry of Tourism, Regeneration, Justice and Local Administration has informed the Governing Council of the elaboration of a crash plan to recover and reactivate the tourism sector in the face of the health and economic crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
In this way, it is intended to prepare the sector to face a new stage that involves a change of model and that requires showing Andalusia as a safe destination, especially from the health field. It responds to the commitment of policies and initiatives to support the crisis of the Covid-19 of the Andalusian Government after the decree of closure of activity of establishments and accommodation within the national territory.
A cabinet of experts, created within the Public Tourism Company and the Ministry, has analyzed the needs of the sector expressed by regional, national and international organizations and associations.
Based on this previous study, work has been carried out on a proposal that contains economic, fiscal and positioning measures for the Andalusia brand that may come into force progressively from the next few weeks. The objectives of this plan are to recover the Andalucian and national market, encourage employment and promote research and digitalization of companies.
The two lines of action present aid to promote contracting, support digital investment and security systems that enhance consumer confidence, financing and liquidity plans, tax incentives and specific training, among other notable aspects.
In the second line, the effort will go to strengthen the Andalucia destination brand. For this, the participation of Turismo Andaluz in events within the autonomous community and throughout the national territory will be reinforced in a first phase that condenses part of the new actions and communication campaigns.
The promotion of the Cultural Tourist Card, where public-private collaboration with specialized companies is proposed, will allow progress in the field of new technologies with a project already started and presented at FITUR 2020 and which now reaches new objectives and also new markets and products.
The reformulation of the 2020 Action Plan, already presented in the Governing Council, will allow very important economic resources to be put into circulation to face the new communication and promotion plan in a shorter but more intense period of time.
