Spain’s national rail company, Renfe, has announced cuts of around 25 per cent in all of the Media Distancia services in Andalucia as of yesterday (Saturday, April 4) and the cancellation of the Málaga-Ronda trains in the light of the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic sweeping across the globe.
The Media Distancia between Algeciras and Antequera will have departures from Algeciras at 6.30 (Monday to Friday), and at 17.53 (Saturdays, Sundays and holidays) and from Antequera Santa Ana at 10.09 (Monday to Friday) ) and at 9:35 pm (Saturdays, Sundays and holidays).
These measures have been introduced within the framework of the State of Alarm decreed by the Council of Ministers on the occasion of the coronavirus epidemic and force an exceptional situation of mobility and the application of health measures.
Renfe advises against travelling except for reasons that cannot be postponed or are in an emergency and has enabled a new telephone information number for travellers: 918 314 520.
Renfe had already applied an initial first reduction of 50 per cent of Andalucia’s Media Distancia services on March 18, which was reduced to 30 per cent on Sunday, March 29. Starting yesterday, April 4, only 25 per cent of the usual Media Distancia service will now operate.
