The president of the Andalucian Government, Juanma Moreno, has announced that the Junta has decided to suspend face-to-face teaching activity in all educational establishments for two weeks, from Monday 16 to March 30.
“In due course, it will be announced whether this situation will resume or be extended on Monday, March 30, depending on the evolution of the epidemic at that time,” he said.
He explained that this measure will take effect next Monday, so that families can have tomorrow to plan, and that it will be the Ministry of Education that will send the centres the precise instructions for the teaching of subjects by digital platforms.
During his speech, he said that it has been the President of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, who has recommended to the autonomous governments the closure of teaching centres as a protection measure for students, teachers and non-teaching staff.
He also said that under the same premise of preventing contagion as far as possible, from next Monday activity is also suspended in all day centres, day-stay units and occupational centres for the elderly or physically disabled or intellectual, mental health or addictions.
The President of the Andalucian Government has stated that it has also been agreed to suspend all activities in scenic venues as well as visits to museums and monuments.
The measures will be formally agreed tomorrow afternoon in an extraordinary Governing Council meeting.

There are currently 158 positive cases in Andalucia: 4 in Almería, 11 in Cádiz, 3 in Córdoba, 13 in Granada, 2 in Huelva, 17 in Jaén, 97 in Malaga and 11 in Seville “, he has specified.
Moreno has stated that Andalusia is still far from the level of infection that the coronavirus presents in communities such as Madrid or the Basque Country, and also far from that registered in countries like Italy, although he stressed that “we must attend to the principle of institutional loyalty and unity of action that we ourselves have been demanding and that today we have also heard in the words of Pedro Sánchez “.
“We cannot ignore the indications of the Government of Spain. These measures, which we adopt by virtue of the social discipline that the health authorities advise, are also in line with the recommendations of the World Health Organization and with the distancing protocols applied in other countries in our immediate environment where the epidemic shows a much higher degree of aggressiveness than we suffer in Andalusia, “he added.
The Andalucian president reinforced that it is essential that we all act responsibly, while adding that “the measures that have been adopted and those approved today pursue a single objective that is to stop the spread of the coronavirus.”
“All this effort will not serve if we do not apply that same social discipline to our day to day by modifying our habits, respecting the recommendations of the experts and, if necessary, imposing on ourselves the duty to protect others by protecting ourselves.”
He said that on January 27, a month before the first case was detected in Andalucia, the Junta established the Coronavirus Monitoring Advisory Group.
Moreno highlighted some of the measures the Junta were taking including strengthening health centres with the necessary personnel to guarantee health care, the activation of the telephone number 900 400 061 for queries about coronavirus and special cleaning and hygiene measures in buses, subways and trams of autonomous ownership.
The President of the Andalucian Government has promised that the Junta would act in coordination with the Government of Spain and always from institutional loyalty, to which he added that “this is a matter it requires the unity of action of all of us and of all the autonomous communities “.
“In the next few hours and in the next few days we will assess and study these measures to address them in a more detailed way. We are going to overcome this crisis among all of us, and we hope to do so in the shortest possible time,” he said.
In this sense, he has indicated that this delay that we are going to suffer to protect public health is going to have economic consequences, but he has stressed that the Andalucian Government is going to put everything within his reach because, according to what he has said, “we are aware that at the moment all aid to families and companies is few and insufficient. ”
“Our history is full of challenges successfully overcome. I still cannot tell you when, but we will succeed, but I can tell you one thing and that is that it will depend on the union of all of us who succeed as soon as possible”, he concluded.
