The President of the Andalucian Government, Juanma Moreno, has convened a meeting of the Crisis Cabinet this afternoon to activate region’s Emergency Plan and raise the coronavirus crisis to a ‘level 2’ emergency.
The Andalusian Territorial Emergency Plan establishes the response and deployment in situations of ‘serious risk, catastrophe or public calamity.’
The Crisis Cabinet will meet via teleconference at 7:00 pm, chaired by the president, Juanma Moreno, and will be made up of the vice president, Juan Marín, and the councillors of the Presidency, Public Administration and Interior, Elías Bendodo; Health and Families, Jesús Aguirre, and Finance, Industry and Energy, Juan Bravo.
From this moment, the Executive Committee for the Control, Monitoring and Evaluation of Special Situations in Andalusia, which has taken decisions while the situation was located at ‘level 1’, is dissolved.
The Crisis Cabinet is the one that now assumes these executive functions and this afternoon will adopt new decisions to face the evolution of the Covid-19 coronavirus epidemic in Andalusia.
The activation of the Territorial Plan of Emergencies of Andalucia was communicated at 5:00pm to Emergencies 112 by Elías Bendodo, after the Government of Spain communicated to the Junta de Andalucía the postponement of the videoconference of autonomous presidents planned for today.
Bendodo explained that the Andalucian Government wanted “to wait to know the measures announced yesterday by the Government of Spain and the holding of the videoconference of regional presidents, but the epidemic is advancing, contagions are increasing and it is necessary to act without delay.”
The activation of the Andalucian Territorial Emergency Plan implies the constitution of a Regional Advisory Committee, where the Andalucian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FAMP) and the General State Administration are present, which have been notified this afternoon to activate their representatives.
