Spain’s Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, announced last night (Saturday) the suspension of all non-essential activity from Monday, March 30 until April as the country battles to halt the death toll in the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic sweeping the world.
Following the recommendations of the Technical Committee the Prime Minister has determined that all workers of ‘non-essential activities’ stay at their homes between March 30 and April 9, both dates included.
Clarification of what constitutes ‘essential activities’ is expected to follow today following an extraordinary Council of Ministers, which will be held electronically, which will approve the measure that will further reduce the mobility of people, reduce the risk of contagion and reduce the congestion of intensive care units in hospitals.
“It is the moment to intensify the measures with responsibility and sacrifice, this is the only this way we will win the battle,” said Sanchez speaking on television last night.
