Only one confirmed case of the coronavirus 2019 (n-CoV) has been confirmed in Spain so far on January 31 and it involved a German citizen in La Gomera who was a close contact of another confirmed case in Germany.
The restriction of flights from Wuhan and 13 other cities nearby, reduce the probability of arrival of sick air passengers. Even so, it cannot be completely ruled out that some cases may arrive in Spain from the risk zone.
However, the Spanish government has said the country is prepared to screen for the early detection of cases and the establishment of prevention and control measures, which would greatly reduce the risk of transmission.
In the current situation, the overall public health risk in Spain is considered moderate but the risk assessment is constantly reviewed according to the available information.
