Around 40 people from the Serrania de Ronda have taken part in a protest march on the route a famous railway walk that connects the stations of Benaoján-Montejaque and Jimera de Líbar organised by the Plataforma Tren Público y Digno for the Serranía de Ronda.
The 8km walk was guided by ‘romantic traveller’ Isidro G. Cigüenza in collaboration with the Asociación por los Caminos de la Serranía.
The famous scenic walk follows the course of the Guadiaro river and also runs very close to the railway line between Algeciras and Ronda.
Hikers wanted to draw attention to the current state of the train services and demand an improvement to as they have recently been hit by breakdowns and delays.
Ani González, who heads the protest group, said they wanted to highlight the importance of the line to the Ministry of Development and work with them to improve rail communications of the Serranía de Ronda for locals and visitors alike.
