Eco Mountain Marathon La Donaira is committed to reducing plastic in the race by replacing it with organic materials

The La Donaira estate (Montecorto, Mlaga), together with the municipalities of El Gastor and Montecorto, have created the I Eco Marathon Mountain La Donaira – a sporting event that aims to reduce plastic in the race by replacing it with organic materials.

The organisers recognise the natural wealth of the area and want to raise awareness about conservation.

The 42km race with a positive climb of 2,500 metres will take place on November 16, 2019, and runs through the finca while crisscrossing the provinces of Malaga and Cadiz.

The I Eco Marathon Mountain La Donaira is one of the few races in Andalucia that has a cash prize for the first three finishers:

1st Prize – 400 euros
2nd Prize – 200 euros
3rd Prize – 100 euros

During the race the organisers will try to reduce the plastic as much as possible and they will give each of the runners folding and ecological water bottles so that the impact on nature is as small as possible. Backpacks and shirts are also designed and made with organic materials.
